Ellora Caves

Ellora Caves in India is an archaeological site located near the old Indian village of Ellora. It is most known for its magnificent caves. Ellora is world heritage site and the "epitome of Indian rock-cut architecture." There are 34 caves that were excavated and hand-carved from the high basalt cliffs between the fifth century and 10th century. 1-12 Are the Buddhist caves. 13 39 Are the Hindu caves. 30-34 Are Jain caves. The mix of religious cultures dug up side by side shows that it was on old India to a terrific spirit of tolerance. The complex and exquisite temples, shrines and caves are some of the oldest rock-cut architecture in the world.
