serendipitous moments in photography

This was one of those serendipitous moments in photography where everything came together in perfect unison. We went to Hyde Park hoping to photograph the beginnings of winter but came across the lake literally filled with these leaves. The more recent had fallen on top and we could see the earlier ones were gradually turning black and sinking to the bottom. This had a magical effect where we could see layer upon layer of leaves going all the way to the bottom of the lake.
I took several exposures and merged these together to get this image. A week later when we returned, the leaves were gone. Truly a chance encounter.
